But if you're getting them by mail-order, the 'drop and plop' method is your best bet. If you're getting them directly from a petstore, drip-acclimation is probably better (you get some airline tubing and 'drip' your tank water into their water slowly over the course of 1+ hours). I now have 100+ and 3 of the original adults are still alive at probably 1 year of age (their lifespan more or less). But the ones that survived are pretty hardy.
